Labor Update
942AM: Birth!
920AM: Pushing begins...
9AM: AROM (accidental)
830AM: Fully Dilated!!!
715AM: Epidural Placed
12/19: 630AM: 4cm/100%/-1 Nubain x 2 given, will probably have epidural when the anesthesiologist rolls in (they are not in house...) Baby looks great; Emily is a trooper.
(12/18 10pm) Current exam: 3cm/80% (And, if you really care, the tracing is reactive!) (But really, I'm not getting overly involved in the medical care.)
Things Not to Tell an Expectant Parent
Don't let cat or dog hair get in your child's socks because it might wrap around the child's toe and cause strangulation.
Wow, your adoption sounds too good to be true! Are you sure it isn't just a scam?
What I've Learned About Baby Care Since I Started This Blog
You should wash baby clothes (preferably in "Dreft" which is a weird name for a laundry detergent, I think) before putting them on the baby. Supposedly.
Don't pick up binkies that you find on the sidewalk in front of your house; it's not worth it and your friends will look at you askance.
Formula doesn't last very long and can't be refrigerated. Sounds like a recipe for wasted formula and higher profits for Nestle and others.
You can buy breast milk online, but it's insanely expensive and slightly bizarre to contemplate.
Spurring the Economy
This is what I've gotten so far... thanks to Londa and Martha and Kim who have bought out Carter's and Babies 'R' Us as far as I can tell
